The byline of Joy Kiddie’s low-carb Dietetic practice is that there is “no one-size-fits-all low carb or keto diet”. In keeping with this, the book Low Carb Breads of the World provides recipes for bread that can be baked by people following different types of low-carb diets. Have a look inside.
What’s Inside – recipe categories
There are 3 categories of recipes in Low Carb Breads of the World.
Low Carb Yeast Breads includes breads for beginners to more advanced bakers and uses different rising techniques, including cold ferment, warm rise, and sourdough. These include yeast loaves, baguettes, as well as a bread that is similar in taste to rye bread and perfect for serving with smoked meat or pastrami.
Low Carb Ethnic Breads consists of various yeast-raised and baking-powder-raised bread, including a variety of Middle Eastern hand pies, roti, paratha, naan, pita, calzones and both flour-style and ‘corn’-style tortillas. Recipes for items such as empanadas, samosas, and borekas are not in this book as these are categorized as pastry, rather than bread.
Low Carb Quick Breads and Decadent Exceptions includes fluffy pancakes, scones and Southern-style baking powder biscuits. There are also some low-carb upgrades to classic quick bread loaves and delicious low-carb cinnamon rolls for a special occasion.

Cookbook as a Kitchen Tool
A good cookbook is a kitchen tool that belongs in the kitchen, rather than on the coffee table. Since many people are in the habit of reading recipes on their phones or tablets, and some even take pictures of recipes from beautiful cookbooks to use in the kitchen to avoid getting the cookbook dirty, Low Carb Breads of the World is published as an e-book (120 MB full colour pdf file and can be viewed on a smartphone, tablet, or e-reader that supports pdfs). Like the majority of e-books, it is not printable.
High-resolution photographs are very costly to produce in print, so as an e-book, Low Carb Breads of the World enables ample photographs to help illustrate and clarify the text. Photos are very helpful those new to baking and essential when working with these novel ingredients to know when a dough is the correct consistency and are indispensable for illustrating techniques used in recipes in this book, including how to braid an egg loaf (challah), form a brioche, or make cinnamon rolls.
